ARA launch for Genie telehandler

Genie will feature four examples of its latest electric and hybrid MEWPs, at the 2023 ARA Show, taking place in the US this February, alongside a new telehandler in the manufacturer’s GTH range.

The new telehandler will build on the redesign of Genie’s 10,000lb GTH-1056 model, with full details about the unit set to be announced in January 2023.

A new scissor will also be presented at the Orlando-based show, equipped with a Lithium-ion battery. The 25 ft 3 in (7.85m) working height, GS-1932 E-Drive Lithium-Ion scissor lift has 500 lb (227 kg) platform capacity, and is 2 ft 8 in (.81 m) wide, meaning it can pass through standard single doors.

Genie’s zero-maintenance Lithium battery has been specifically designed for use in MEWPs and rigorously tested for longevity and reliability, including in extreme temperature environments. Certified by the independent Underwriters Laboratory (UL) against fire, electric shock and explosion, Genie’s Lithium-Ion batteries come with a five-year warranty and an expected lifespan of 10 years.

The model is capable of a four-hour charging time, which is 33% faster than FLA batteries, and can work a full shift on a single charge. Optimised for extreme heat (120° F/ 49° C) and cold (-20° F/-29° C) weather performance, Genie E-Drive delivers the same performance regardless of the temperature, says the manufacturer. Introduced in 2020,  E-Drive scissors offer 25% gradeability and 14° breakover angle and has 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings.

Micro scissors and boom lifts

The company will also present its low level access offering in the form of the GS-1932m micro scissor. Introduced in 2021, the micro scissors feature Genie’s fully-sealed and maintenance-free AC electric drive. The stowed height of the GS-1932m enables it to fit through a doorway with standard fixed guardrails, without requiring them to be folded. Although Genie’s micro scissors meet the needs of space-restricted and low-floor-loading applications, they also are a good choice for jobs where you would use a standard-sized scissor lift.

Hybrid booms are a major part of Genie’s rough terrain green solution. Therefore, the hybrid S-60 FE - the industry’s first hybrid telescopic boom, launched in 2021, will be on the stand, alongside a 100% electric offering; the Z-45 DC articulating boom.

With two modes of operation, electric or hybrid, FE boom lifts adapt to indoor and outdoor applications. In electric mode, they can work a full shift on a single battery charge, while in hybrid mode they can run for more than a week on a single tank of diesel fuel.

In addition, the company will show the S-80 J TraX boom lift, which is the first tracked boom in its height class. It offers extreme terrainability with lower contact pressure reduced damage in sensitive ground conditions. The four independent tracks swivel vertically up to 20° to create a smooth ride in rough conditions. There will also be the compact GR-20 vertical mast lift. It features zero inside turning radius, 30% gradeability, a spring-applied, hydraulically released brake system.
