United Rentals expands in Australia

United Rentals has acquired Australia-based rental company Orange Hire from its private equity owner Arcadia Capital.  No financial details of the transaction have been revealed.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Blacktown, New South Wales, Orange Hire rents a range of earthmoving and traffic management equipment. The company operates eight branches across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales. 

Following the acquisition the company will operate under the name of United Rentals Australia, while it will still trade under its current name.

The existing members of staff, which comprises of approximately 87 employees, will remain in place, the company said.

The deal further expands the network of branches that United Rentals operates in Australia, adding to its 23 existing locations.
