Kiloutou partners on carbon-free equipment

Kiloutou’s iMPAKT range of carbon-free equipment will be made available at a discounted price to members of France-based insurance group L’Auxiliaire, the company has revealed.

Based in Lyon, specialist insurer L’Auxiliaire provides insurance for building and civil engineering sector professionals in the country.

Following the new deal, which takes effect from the first quarter of 2024, its members will receive “preferential rates” on the iMPAKT range throughout the year.

Members who are already Kiloutou customers will be able to hire electric or hybrid energy equipment from the range for one week, at the price of its combustion equivalent, the company said.

For members who are not Kiloutou customers, the offer allows them to test the iMPAKT equipment of their choice free of charge for one day.  To date, the company has more than 15,000 member-customers.

Educational initiatives designed to accelerate the adoption of the decarbonisation of worksites will also be provided.

Kiloutou said the move comes as it aims to “encourage the sector’s transition to a sustainable model” and “bridge the gap in terms of awareness, information and access to low-carbon equipment between large companies and SMEs.”

Pascal Maume, regional director, Kiloutou Grand-Rhône, said, “Kiloutou is pursuing the dual objective of reducing its own direct emissions, as well as those of its customers’ worksites, via the equipment we hire out.

“The purpose of our renewed partnership with L’Auxiliaire is to ensure that all our customers – without exception – whatever their size or speciality, have a good level of information about the challenges of decarbonisation and the solutions we offer to support them.”

Richard Camus, innovation manager,  L’Auxiliaire, added, “As an insurer specialising in the building and civil engineering sector, we have a responsibility to take on board the major changes transforming the industry, with the low-carbon transition and sustainability issues in construction at the forefront.

“After launching Breez in 2022, the first insurance offer specifically designed to cover zero-emission machinery and equipment, we want to continue to encourage the adoption of this type of equipment by our policyholders and by a growing number of companies. We believe in removing barriers to use through experimentation, and that’s the philosophy behind our partnership and this joint action.”

The collaboration isn’t the first time the respective companies have worked together. For the last two years they have partnered to raise awareness of the major issues facing the building and public works sector, including the prevention and combating of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

L’Auxiliaire members were given preferential access to Kiloutou’s KARE range, which aims to improve safety on construction sites.
