Hycon launches low-cost hydraulic breaker pack

Hycon's larger hydraulic powerpacks and breakers normally compete against pneumatic breakers, but the company the new powerpack/breaker set will allow it to compete against electric breakers as well. Electric units are typically lower cost, lower performance tools used for smaller less demanding applications.

The new HPP06 power pack is powered by a 6.5 hp Honda engine and the HH15 breaker closes the gap between Hycon's existing 10 kg and 22 kg breakers.

Ole Hejgendorf, Hycon's sales director, said the new comination would "offer a package kit to plant hire companies at an unbeatable price, but still with high performance... With our two new products we want to catch more new users of hydraulics and later on sell them the bigger tools, but also to start eating from the electric market."

Mr Hejgendorf told IRN that the new products had been designed to represent a low investment for renters, with low maintenance costs, a long working life, low energy cost - the Honda engine uses a small amount of petrol - and high performance.

The HPP06 powerpack - which can also be used with Hycon's HH10 and HH20 breakers, a core drill and 14 in cut-off saw - weighs 54 kg and measures 630 mm (L) by 530 mm (W) by 510 mm (H).

The HH15 breaker weighs 15 kg, operates at a maximum pressure of 160 bar, and has a vibration level quoted at 4.4 m/s2.
