CMC completes US distributor buyout
13 February 2024
Italy-based spider lift manufacturer CMC has finalised the acquisition of 100% of All Access Equipment (AAE), its US dealer.
The move follow’s the majority acquisition of CMC by private equity fund Metrika, which took a 70% stake in the company in October 2023. The plan behind the deal was to further consolidate CMC’s presence in the US market, with the aim of acheiving an overall sales target of €100 million by 2024, with more than 90% of the business achieved overseas.
All Access Equipment, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, was founded in 2011 by the Polonski family and is a leading provider of sales, distribution, and services for aerial platforms and related equipment throughout North America.
In 2023, it reported revenues of approximately $80 million, employing more than 60 people at its facilities in Wilmington, Massachusetts, and Salem, New Hampshire. The Polonski family will retain management of the company, ensuring continuity and support for CMC as it grows.
The acquisition of All Access Equipment, which finalised in late January, will allow expansion in the tree-care market, which in the US represents an important share of spider lift customers and has been growing for several years. Direct control of the business will remain in the US, with a view to CMC working with AAE to strengthen its brand in the market.
Alessandro Mastrogiacomo, CEO of CMC described the acquisition of All Access Equipment as a milestone in the company’s growth path. “This transaction testifies to CMC’s confidence and ambition in pursuing its industrial strategy, supported by its strong partnership with Metrika.”
“It represents a significant step for CMC in consolidating its leadership in the lifting industry, with a particular focus on the US market,” added Marco Giuseppini and Nicola Pietralunga from Metrika.
