GAP Group and Terex build on relationship
25 March 2015
Rental specialist the GAP Group has ordered more than 400 site dumpers from Terex after the companies signed a two-year supply contract.
The investment, valued at more than £7.5 million (€10.2 million), is in dumpers ranging from 1 tonne to 9 tonnes in size.
The group said its fleet holding of 1, 3, 6 and 9 tonne dumpers amounts to more than 2,200 units.
Group procurement manager Ken Stewart said: “We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Terex and this agreement reinforces that. The order will be distributed throughout our extensive UK depot network from April onwards.”
Of particular interest are the 9 tonne dumpers with JCB Ecomax engines, which the group said are Tier 4 Final in-cylinder and exhaust emission compliant, and deliver additional torque and improved fuel consumption.
The company also said that trials and customer feedback regarding the 6 tonne model with the same engine had been “very positive”.
Additional features include a new dashboard design and early warning alerts to avoid downtime.
Mr Stewart added: “While pricing is and always will be very important to us, we tend to focus on the cost of ownership and overall value for money.”
