Maxim lifts new Miami Dolphins stadium
19 August 2016
USA-based crane rental company Maxim Crane Works is using a fleet of Manitowoc crawler cranes on the construction of the new Miami Dolphins American football stadium in Florida, USA.
The job began with four 660 US ton (600 tonne) 18000s, each equipped with a MAX-ER - an attachment that allows the crane to lift more at a longer radius - that brought their capacities to 826 tons (750 tonnes). Then the Newport, Kentucky-based company added a 772 ton (700 tonnes) MLC650 to the job site.
Often, the cranes lifted together in tandem, with the heaviest load weighing 800 ton (726 tonnes), the company said.
Frank Bardonaro, president at Maxim Crane Works, said, “This is a challenging project and the cranes are often working around the clock, on 24/7 shifts. Our ability to have the latest lift technology from Manitowoc enabled us to efficiently perform multiple, tandem crane picks that exceeded one million pounds [454 tonnes]. Having multiple cranes of these sizes with synchronized working speeds and qualified operating engineers were they key reasons we were able to secure the project.”
