Volvo introduces new ECR145 and EC210 excavators to the market

Volvo Construction Equipment has launched two new crawler excavators, the ECR145 and EC210, which are said to offer greater efficiency and performance levels for a range of applications, when compared to its previous generation machines.
The ECR145 is a 14-tonne short-swing-radius model designed for tight spaces.
It comes equipped with a Stage V D4 engine that delivers 90 kW of power, and an electro-hydraulic system that optimises fuel consumption and lowers operating costs “by regulating engine speed and hydraulic flow rate” according to the task being carried out.
Standout features also include an auto power boost function that automatically set system pressure when more power is needed, and a machine cab that provides 20% more space than comparable predecessor models.
While the the EC145 is also available with a 3.5-tonne counterweight for increased stability and lifting capacity, Volvo’s new EC210 is said to provide equipment owners with a lower cost ownership, and 10% increased fuel efficiency, as well as longer service interval.
The 20-tonne EC210 features a 115-kW engine and technology that allows machine operators to pre-set limits on the boom’s depth, height and swing, thereby improving safety.
The EC210 also includes “advanced technology” that the OEM says helps to reduce operator fatigue, delivers shorter cycle times and increases efficiency.
Volvo added: “Both models benefit from the Smart View with an optional Obstacle Detection feature with its 360° visibility of the machine’s surroundings. Increased on-site safety is secured through its camera and new radar detection system.”
