KR 704-3G rig is designed for use in urban environments
Equipment manufacturer Klemm Bohrtechnik has unveiled its new KR 704-3G drilling rig, designed for use in urban environments.
Klemm says the rig’s compact dimensions and low weight also make it suitable for use in existing buildings.
Powered by a 55kW diesel engine that meets the latest EU standards, the KR 704-3G’s base carrier is just 950mm wide. This and the option of using telescopic drill masts, which can pivot up to 45 degrees, allow the rig to pass through doorways and work within low ceiling heights.
Klemm says the rig is ideal for special civil engineering tasks, including micropiles for foundations and the underpinning of existing foundations with high-pressure injection columns.
The rig is equipped with a load-sensing pump and a load-independent volume flow control, with an increase in system pressure to 350 bar.
With all functions fully remote controlled, the new rig also features the Klemm energy efficiency package (EEP).
The company says is has reduced both noise emissions and fuel consumption, as well as enhancing safety features, such as a restricted operation mode (ROM) for drill rod changes.
Depending on requirements, Klemm says, the rig can be equipped with different drill masts and accessories.
