JLG debuts new articulated boom
24 January 2025
JLG Industries, Inc. launched a new 60-foot articulated boom at World of Concrete 2025, and has plans to expand the electric, articulated line with additional models later this year.
The EC600AJ articulating boom features an unrestricted platform capacity of 550 pounds and a restricted capacity of 750 pounds, and up-and-over capabilities with 27-feet, 1-inch of up-and-over height.
The EC600AJ articulating boom also features a130-degree jib articulation range (+70, -60 degrees) and 400-degree non-continuous swing, enabling operators to position the platform precisely in confined spaces or around obstacles, the company said. “This flexibility, combined with a platform height of 60 feet and horizontal outreach of 36 feet, makes the EC600AJ ideal for applications like facility maintenance, construction and renovation projects,” JLG added.
The new articulating model will expand JLG’s electric construction (EC) portfolio in North America, and a 66-foot version will be debuted later this year, the company told Access Briefing during World of Concrete.
“We’ve focused on making the EC600AJ both powerful and practical, part of a new generation of JLG boom lifts designed with job sites of tomorrow in mind,” saidAngela Patterson, product management specialist lead, JLG. “This model demonstrates our ongoing commitment to electrification while meeting the rugged demands of a construction environment, with performance capabilities similar to those of its diesel counterparts. The EC600AJ’s articulating design provides the versatility and precise positioning capabilities that modern construction and maintenance operations demand, all while delivering the environmental benefits and lower total cost of ownership of an electric platform.”
The EC600AJ is powered by two 10.7kWh lithium-ion batteries and features 4WD AC drive motors for enhanced terrain capability. Featuring enhanced maneuverability with both 2WS and 4WS options, the machine offers 40 percent gradeability with a 5-degree tilt cut-out.
With improved transportability through a shorter stowed length and compact design, contractors can fit two EC600AJ units onto one trailer. The new model has also been redesigned with an internal power track and hybrid hood design, enhancing durability while maintaining efficient access to key components for servicing.
Production for the global JLG EC600AJ boom - which will occur at JLG’s Shippensburg, PA facility - is set to begin this summer.
