ERA Convention opens in Lisbon

The European Rental Association Convention has been offically opened in Lisbon, Portugal, this afternoon by Arne Severin, CEO of Zeppelin Rental.

The show, which runs from the 15 to 16 of May, will see more than 350 leading voices from the European rental industry attend over the next two days, a record number for the event.

The Convention returns amidst a backdrop of a number of critical issues in Europe’s rental sector, most notably the energy transition and wider sustainability goals.

A packed programme throughout the course of the event will explore the theme of ‘The Future of Rental,’ emphasising decarbonisation and the equipment rental industry’s role in the energy transition.

This year features a three-part plenary session, which once again takes place alongside several workshops.

Speaking at the opening, Arne Severin said, “The theme of this year’s Convention is “The future of Rental Solutions”. Why this topic? Because the landscape of rental solutions is rapidly evolving, driven by advancements in technology, changes in consumer behaviour, shifts in the global economy and most of all by the necessity of reducing the contribution of the industry to climate change.

“It’s imperative that we explore and anticipate these changes to ensure that our industry remains innovative, competitive and responsive to the needs of our customers and addresses the environment challenges.”

Meanwhile, the European Rental Awards, which is jointly organised by the European Rental Association and International Rental News, will also be held this evening.

There are a number of awards up for grabs, inlcuding Rental Product of the Year, Large Rental Company of the Year and ERA Sustainability Committee Award: Best emission reduction case study involving rental products.
