Leada Acrow expands formwork fleet

21 March 2016

Leada Acrow, the formwork, falsework and groundwork division of UK rental company A-Plant, said it had invested almost £250000 (€319865) in new formwork equipment specially manufactured for the company.

It said this latest investment comprised Slimlite Soldiers, which are designed to be an economic high-strength backing member for all formwork applications.

It said the majority of the new formwork is already out on rental supporting construction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty project in Scotland, UK. The project involves the construction of a new 58km road which is scheduled to open in winter 2017.

Barry Furlong, director of Leada Acrow said, “Slimlite Soldiers are extremely popular items and we have made this investment to support the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty project. Slimlite Soldiers allow the desired concrete finish to be achieved without the need for ties to be moved or for sheets to be re-sized, presenting an economical and efficient formwork solution.”

There are 75 primary structures throughout the whole project, with two of these being major crossings over the River Dee in the south and the River Don in the north. There are also several secondary structures which involve the installation of pre-cast culverts, manholes and other waterway structures.

Leada Acrow has a strategic partnership with formwork and falsework manufacturers Meva, whereby Leada Acrow is the key provider of Meva products in the UK.
