Xylem acquires Heartland Pump
29 October 2012
Expansive site dewatering and slurry pump manufacturer Xylem has acquired US-based Heartland Pump Rental & Sales for US$ 29 million.
Headquartered in Carterville, Illinois, US, Heartland has been a long-standing business partner with Godwin, a brand owned by Xylem, since 1995. The companies worked together in the areas of dewatering pump rental, services and systems design.
Gretchen McClain, president and CEO of Xylem said dewatering had been identified as a growth market.
“This acquisition supports our strategy by expanding our footprint in an important region of the US,” he added.
Xylem has embarked on a rapid growth strategy since being spun off from its parent, ITT Corporation, into a US$ 3.2 billion stand-alone company in October last year.
AS well as expanding its mine dewatering capabilities in Panama, Brazil, Australia and Vietnam this year, Xylem has also started work on a 10000 ft2 (929 m2) extension to its Godwin pumps manufacturing facility in Bridgeport, New Jersey, US, and has outlined plans to make significant investments in its French rental fleet.
