GAP Group becomes Leica distribution partner
09 June 2021
Independent UK rental company GAP Group has been appointed distribution partner to Switzerland-based Leica Geosystems. Leica makes products and systems for surveying and geographical measurement and is owned by sensor, software and autonomous solutions specialist Hexagon Group.
The move will see the new Technical Services unit within GAP’s Survey & Safety division offering Leica products to rental customers. GAP’s Safety & Survey division has 15 stand-alone depots across the UK, offering repair and calibration services.
The division is part of GAP’s Technical and Environmental Services arm, also including Lifting & TIC, Tanker Services, Trenching & Shoring and Event Services, which the company has built up in recent years through strategic supplier relationships.
Karen Greenshields, Managing Director of GAP Technical and Environmental Services, said; “Forming a strategic partnership with Leica Geosystems as a UK authorised distribution partner was an important milestone for our Survey & Safety division, allowing GAP to provide our customers with the full Leica Geosystems range for hire, sales and, later this year, calibration and repairs.
“We are thrilled to be partnered with Leica Geosystems, allowing us to provide this complete service to our customers.”
John Hicks, Managing Director of Leica Geosystems UK, said; “With modern technology and methodology continuously changing, it is a great time for Leica Geosystems to work alongside GAP Group on upcoming opportunities and develop further the Leica Geosystems offering through their nationwide dedicated survey businesses.”
It is understood further survey technology will continue to come on stream at GAP’s Technical Services unit (Survey & Safety) as the partnership with Leica develops.
