ERA confirms leadership succession plan
24 April 2025
Michel Petitjean will step down as secretary general of the European Rental Association (ERA) at the end of June, having held the position since the start of the ERA 19 years ago.
His successor as secretary general will be Carole Bachmann, who has been manager of the ERA since 2013 and has an extensive background in the rental industry through her work with Loxam and Wynne Systems. She will take up the post on 1 July.
The ERA Convention in Dublin on 4 and 5 June will be used by the association to officially announce the succession plan and to celebrate Petitjean’s contribution to the association since its creation in 2006.

Stéphane Henon, president ERA and managing director, Loxam, said; “After 19 years of relentless work and tremendous commitment to make our European Rental Association one of the leading worldwide organisation in our industry, Michel Petitjean will step down as secretary general at the end of June, after our next Convention in Dublin.
“He will be replaced by Carole Bachmann who has collaborated intensively with Michel for many years and who has a strong track record in the rental industry.
“Our coming convention in Dublin will be the appropriate place to congratulate Michel and talk in more detail about the change.”

The ERA Convention will be held at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre in Dublin. The nominated event hotel is the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel which adjoins the convention centre.
