Lambertsson appoints new managing directors

Lambertsson, the Nordic rental company, will promote its regional managers Björn Fredriksson and Tobias Kvick to the positions of CEO and deputy CEO, respectively, on February 1.

Carl Rülcker, who has become the CEO of Lambertsson since the fall of 2023, will then focus on leading Peab Byggsystem, which runs Lambertsson, Byggelement, Smidmek, K-system, Lambertsson Kran, Kranor and Virtanen.

Rülcker praised Fredriksson and Kvick as an “extremely competent duo” that complement each other well.

“During my more than a year as CEO, I have worked closely with my fantastic colleagues, not least the regional managers who have made great efforts to get us through a tough time and at the same time sharpen the business,” he said.

“Björn and Tobias have both played key roles in this work, and I feel completely confident that the operational responsibility is now in the best possible hands.”

He said that under Fredriksson’s leadership, Lambertsson Region North’s operations have risen to a new level, with a strong focus on customer relationships.

Fredriksson, a human resources specialist, joined Lambertsson in 2023, and Kvick has been with the company for two decades. Fredriksson will be based in Umeå while Kvick will continue to be based in Stockholm.

Rülcker said there may be a strategic point in having top management represented both in Sweden’s capital and in the expansive areas of Norrland.

New heads in the north

On February 1, Fredriksson will hand over the responsibility for leading Region North to John Cristoferson, the current manager of Lambertsson’s depots in Sälen and Idre.

Sälen and Idre, two of the Swedens most popular ski resorts, are environments in which Cristoferson has many years of experience.

Cristoferson was part of the Swedish national ski cross team for a few years after high school. After his eighth knee operation, he started planning for a time after his skiing career.

He studied industrial economics and logistics and worked in the logistics industry. He also worked as a consultant manager in staffing and recruitment for several years before joining Lambertsson.

“I am very much looking forward to continuing to drive the positive development here in the north,” said Cristoferson. “At the same time, I am well aware of the major challenges of delivering the highest quality in a region that accounts for almost 40% of Sweden’s area.”

Andreas Fredriksson, who has been head of Lambertsson’s depot in Luleå since last spring, will be the assistant regional manager in Norrland.

“It will be a good division as Andreas, and I are good at different things and will sit with over 800 kilometres distance between us, which is a great advantage in our large region,” said Cristoferson.

New depot

Lambertsson is setting up its tenth depot in Mora, northern Sweden to meet rising market demands and also form the base for Cristoferson.

“We have advanced plans to open additional depots in the region, but we will have to come back to that,” Fredriksson said, adding that the new establishment in Mora is not the last.

Fredriksson said that while large parts of construction in Sweden are still struggling with a challenging economic situation, Norrland is the shining exception as rental demand from industrial projects such as mines and steel mills in the region is growing.

“This means that we have to gear up further to meet the demand for machines, equipment and services that secure and streamline construction,” he said.

Lambertsson Region North currently has depots in nine locations: Gällivare, Gävle, Idre, Kiruna, Luleå, Sundsvall, Sälen, Umeå and Örnsköldsvik.

All depots offer a complete range of machine rentals, perimeter protection solutions, and shed establishment. Most also provide temporary solutions for traffic equipment and electricity supply, as well as heating and climate.

In an exclusive interview with Rental Briefing last year, Rülcker said the housing market in Northern Europe dropped dramatically in 2024, but the civil construction market in Sweden stayed strong. He said Lambertsson successfully transformed its sales and business from the residential housing towards the civil construction market.
