IPAF co-launches Malaysia safety campaign

IPAF has launched a safety campaign in Malaysia.
IPAF and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Selangor, launched the joint MEWPs Safety Campaign during Occupational Safety and Health Week (OSHWEEK) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Organised by DOSH, the event hosted a range of representatives from the occupational health and safety sector in Southeast Asia at the Sunway Hotel Resort.
The campaign aims to promote the safe and effective use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) throuhg the launch of Andy Access posters in the Malay language in conjunction with OSHWEEK 2022, which also took place during the event. The event was streamed live on Facebook to expand its reach to the industry.
IPAF worked closely with the DOSH Selangor’s deputy director of operations Ahmad Fauzi bin Awang to prepare the launch of the eight Andy Access posters.
Close collaboration
Alex Tan from Malaysia-based distributor Aerial Global, and chairman of the IPAF Malaysia Workgroup, organised the collaboration to launch the Andy Access campaign. At the event, Tan highlighted the campaign’s objective and confirmed the posters would be distributed throughout the Malaysian west coast state of Selangor to all IPAF members, as well as construction sites.
Local safety organisations including MSOSH, MOSHPA and MBAM are supporting the campaign and will help distribute the printed and digital versions of the Andy Access posters to their members.
DOSH Selangor also invited Raymond Wat, IPAF’s regional general manager for South East Asia, to talk at the event. Wat covered the subject of creating a safe use of MEWPs ecosystem in the workplace.
The live Facebook stream of the event received 4880 views, with Wat’s presentation garnering numerous questions and discussions. The one-hour presentation encompassed accidents and risks involved during handling MEWPs and shed light on preventive measures that can be taken to avoid accidents. Among the topics was the proper use of fall restraint or fall arrest lanyards.
