As a leading exhibitor at Bauma Liebherr is sure to have some spectacular crane news. Its tagline for this show is “Hands on the future.” Digitalisation and responsibility are the key themes within that.
More than 70 exhibits will grace the vast, 14,000 square metre (more than two football pitches), Liebherr stand. Many of them will be cranes from the Ehingen, Biberach and Nenzing divisions manufacturing wheeled and crawler mobile and construction tower cranes.
New models will be shown for the first time from the wheeled and crawler mobile crane ranges. As with Liebherr’s other ranges of products, expect to see low emission drive systems feature more prominently than ever before.
Battery drive technology will be shown on the 300 tonne capacity LR 1300.2 SX lattice boom crawler crane. It will be shown for the first time as a battery-electric version with zero emissions. It has a 438 kW electric motor and is powered by a 392 kW-h battery. Up to 13 hours of operation on a single charge can be achieved, Liebherr said, depending on the application.
Powerful theme

Talking of power there will be a new version of Liebherr’s Liduro Power Port (LPO) mobile energy storage system. Another stationary energy storage system, LPO 600, will be shown as a prototype. As a mobile charging station LPO 600 has a capacity of 564 kW-h, enough for large machines or fleets, Liebherr said. Hydrogen technology will also feature, primarily to power larger machines that are difficult to power electrically.
On the control technology theme, seven of the mobile cranes shown will have new driver-assistance functions, including blind spot information system (BSIS) and the moving off information system (MOIS).
The 120 tonnne capacity LTM 1120-4.2 wheeled mobile telescopic crane with the new LICCON3 control system will be set up, as standard, for telematics and fleet management. Combined with Liebherr Connect it will be able to show data via the MyLiebherr customer portal.

In the tower crane segment visitors will be able to see the recently revamped K series fast-erecting cranes. Performance is improved, controls are updated and there is a new operating system. There are four models with new intelligent operator assistance systems. Functions include swing-free lifting without pulling diagonally on the load. Semi-automated lifts can be set up for repetitive load cycles.
