Bobcat will use the Bauma exhibition in Munich next month to premiere its new 1 and 2 tonne mini excavator range after three years of development, the company has said.

The company told IRN that the new range, comprising the E16, E17z, E19, and E20z mini excavators, will provide better output and smoother operation, while the addition of a new powertrain usually found in larger units is also a key feature.

Powered by a Kubota diesel engine, the range is mainly designed for the EMEA region and is expected to be available in those regions later this year.

Additionally, the new hydraulic system allows operators to smoothly operate multiple functions simultaneously.

Robert Husar, product line director for Bobcat in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said, “The new 1-2 tonne mini excavator models build on the successes of the previous generation of machines with well over 34,000 units already retailed.

“After 3 years of development, the new models, featuring over 500 new components, will be available in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) markets later this year.

A team of more than 50 engineers and designers have worked on the new designs, with over 80 customer visits to collect the scope, with ride and drive sessions with operators to validate prototypes, forming part of over 20,000 hours of testing and validation work.”

Concept and electric machines from Bobcat

Meanwhile, the company will also show a new version of its 9 tonne E88 mini excavator. The model offers an operating weight of 8890kg, digging force of 67,302N and maximum reach at ground level of 7.2m.

It will have the same conventional tail swing and diesel engine, but will now come with a new cab, display, enhanced ergonomics for operator comfort and added safety features.

Other mini models on the stand will include the E16, E17z, E19, E20, E27, E27z, E35z, E55z and E60.

Bobcat will also showcase concept and electric machines, including the TL25.60e electric telehandler that it showed at Intermat 2024, the all-electric T7X and S7X compact loaders, and the E10e and E19e electric mini excavators.

In terms of machines currently in development, the company will present its RogueX2 autonomous compact loader and the S7X, which it describes as the world’s first all-electric skid-steer loader.

In the loader range, the company will exhibit the S70, S100, S450, S630, and S650 skid-steers. Additionally, the T450, T76 and T86 compact track loaders will be on the Bobcat stand, alongside its range of compact wheel loader, mini track loader and small articulated loader ranges.

The stand will also feature the ATR12, HP65.85 and R60 from its light equipment offering. From its portable power range, the PG20, PG50 and PG100 generators and PA12.7V compressor will be exhibited.
