Bronto Skylift to launch new range at Bauma

Bronto Skylift will unveil a new generation of truck mounts at Bauma with the first new model in the range, the 70m working height S70XT1-J. The company will also unviel its first fully electric lift and a cloud-based fleet management system at the show, taking place in Munich this April.

The new XT range is a combination of all the the best parts of Bronto’s XDT and XR ranges, with a range of upgrades said Arne Denks, the company’s Product Manager. “All the improvements in the XT are built on decades of product development and close collaboration with our customers.”

The new S70XT1-J features a 39m maximum outreach with 120kg capacity, and 33.2 meters with the full 600kg maximum cage load.

The rigidity of the boom structure has been increased, while improving performance without compromising the user experience. It includes a three-section cage boom providing 25m of up and over reach – almost 10m more than the older generations. A wide jib boom movement and +/-220 degrees cage rotation provide a flexible working envelope for versatile operations.

The cage load sensor is more accurate and robust, while new outrigger sensors are integrated to hydraulic cylinders and overall placement of sensors have been re-considered for added reliability.

New options

Functionality is improved with a modular cage structure offering different openings and railings.

There are five platform capacity options, alongside the pre-existing Bronto+ control system providing smooth movements and reliable outreach regardless of weather conditions.

As the company points out, Brontos have a very long lifespan, therefore serviceability has been designed into the new XT range. For example, the modular cage enables easier repair if railings are damaged, and the accessibility to hydraulic components has been improved.

More reliable sensor technology and protected sensor placement has also reduced the service needs long-term, lowering the total cost of ownership.

The first XT units will be initially available in Europe and will be rolled out to other markets in the coming years.

The release of further models in the XT range will be shared at Bauma, said the company, although Bronto added that the range will be fully compliant with both EN 280 and EN 1777 standards, meaning that it will also be available for the company’s Fire & Rescue division - the timing of which will be confirmed at a later date.

“The new product generation design will help us guarantee an even higher product quality throughout the product lifecycle with increased performance, usability, reliability and serviceability.” Tommi Ekman, VP Technology.

The first fully electric Bronto will also be displayed at Bauma. It comes in the form of a 56m working height S56XR mounted onto a custom-made MC500E 8x2R chassis from specialist electric truck producer Designwerk Technologies.

The aerial platform’s software has been modified to fit an electric PTO and to save energy during operation to enable longer working periods.

The unit on display will be delivered to a Swiss rental company Rohr AG, following the show. Established 1930 Rohr is one of the oldest companies to specialize in window and façade cleaning.

Other attractions

Visitors to the Bronto stand can also expect to see the tallest of the company’s truck mounts, the 104m working height S104HLA. Mounted on a Volvo chassis it has a compact configuration and provides a working outreach of 33m.

Bronto One, the cloud-based portal for managing fleets and operations, will also be displayed with three new service levels:

  • Bronto One Basic is a free digital interface for anyone having Brontos in their fleet. Basic level incudes unit information, manuals, service logs as well as a support centre easily accessible in one single location.
  • Bronto One Plus enables remote access for fast and accurate product support in unexpected situations. It will also enable usage data, analytics and insights for optimising fleet usage, reduce emissions and plan preventive services for maximum uptime
  • Bronto One Pro is designed for efficient worksite management and planning. In addition to all Plus level features, it contains additional worksite management and 3D pre-planning tools for outreach simulation, as well as enhanced documentation management.

Visitors are also welcome to take on a simulator challenge with the company’s new XT VR simulator on the Bronto Skylift stand.
