Manitou Group has extended its production facilties dedicated to rough terrain self propelled boom lifts in Candé, France.

One year after the inauguration of the company’s second MEWP production, this additional investment of nearly €60 million will enable the group to increase its production capacity by integrating mechanical welding upstream of assembly.

Located in the Petit Tesseau industrial zone in Candé, this extension will be built in close proximity to the existing RT assembly plant and will benefit from 6,000 square metres of solar panels.

The long-term vision, said Manitou Group, is to equip itself with the necessary industrial resources to support strong growth in its aerial platform business over the coming years.

The aim, added the company, is to increase production capacity while absorbing peaks in activity. Sylvain Jaguelin, VP Product Unit Aerial Work Platform, commented, “We will continue to work with our approved suppliers for mechanically-welded components. Bringing this activity in-house will enable us to reduce the tensions that our supply chain can encounter during surges in activity, which are more and more frequent in a very dynamic platform market.”
