Nixon Hire increases focus on site accommodation

Following a strategic review of its operations, Nixon Hire is to increase its focus on the supply of site accommodation, welfare facilities, toilets, renewable power and solar solutions.

The company, which first moved into site accommodation in 1987, said the changes come after a shift in customer demand and buying habits for products.

The move will also see Nixon sell its large plant equipment in all but two of its depots, Newcastle and Stockton.

In all other areas large plant requirements will be met through strategic partnerships with Nixon Hire on a cross hire basis.

We remain an ever evolving and growing company and we have taken the opportunity to refocus our resources and commit to a robust programme of investment into developing and delivering the products and services our customers require.

“Large plant is popular and in demand in the North East and that is where we will serve those customers and we will continue to do it well. We will also continue to offer an exceptional service and invest in large plant for those Depots.

“This is by no means our exit from large plant. We certainly don’t want customers to think that we are winding down our service and fleet in the North East now or in the future – this is simply not the case.”

Nixon also revealed that the proceeds from the sale of its large plant machines, which will be carried out by UK-headquartered auctioneers Euro Auction, will be reinvested in further growing its accommodation, welfare and renewable power fleet.

Taking place at Euro Auction’s heavy plant auction in Leeds on between November 29 and December 2, more than 500 machines owned by Nixon Hire will be available to buy, with 50% of them models from the last three years.

These include more than 100 telehandlers, 20 excavators, 100 site dumpers and 50 rollers. David Betts of Euro Auctions said, “This sale is not to be missed and if, as a buyer, you’re in the market for late, quality machinery, you must take a look at this consignment in the November/December Leeds sale.

“Nixon Hire has looked after their entire fleet very well indeed, and some of the 2023 plate machines only have delivery hours on the clock. Even the hours on the 2017 to 2020 machines are well below average. We expect a great deal of interest in this sale.”
