Atlas Copco buys compressor manufacturer

Atlas Copco has acquired Brazil-based compressor manufacturer Metalplan. No financial details of the transaction have been disclosed.

Based in São Paulo and founded in 1986, Metalplan manufactures screw compressors, air treatment equipment, chillers, gas generation and renewable energy products. It also rents compressors.The company has 90 employees and generated €8.9 million in 2023. It mainly serves the research and development, design, production, sales, and service markets respectively.

Philippe Ernens, business area president Compressor Technique, said, “By acquiring Metalplan, Atlas Copco Group will grow its presence in Brazil and Latin America. Metalplan’s products and services stretch across many industries and segments which will be beneficial for our customers.”

The company will join the Industrial Air division within the Compressor Technique Business Area.

The deal comes just a few weeks after the company acquired the compressor business of Malaysia-based JetCan Engineering Sdn Bhd.

JetCan, founded in 1996, sells and services compressed air equipment and related accessories. The business is located in the north region of Malaysia and focused on customers in food and beverage, electrical and electronics, medical devices, as well as other general industry.
