New light breaker from Atlas Copco

Atlas Copco has launched the 442 kg SB 452 light breaker, for 6.5 to 13 t excavators, to replace the SB 450, which will be phased out. The new model falls between the 304 kg SB 302 and the 521 kg SB 552 in the seven-model SB (solid body) range, launched three years ago.
Atlas Copco said the SB 452's efficiency is 68% and that its output is 60% more than the SB 450. The noise level of the new model is 122 dBA, compared to 128 dBA of the earlier breaker.
According to Atlas Copco, the weight-impact ratio of the solid body breakers is unmatched across its 50 to 500 kg range. In addition, the new body design generates lower vibrations and less noise.
Thord Wikström, product line manager, said, "A solid body breaker is machined from a single block of steel. This method provides a number of benefits, such as no side or head bolts and a unique resistance to bending forces and operator abuse. Another advantage is fewer parts and less maintenance."
