BigRentz partners with finance provider

BigRentz, the US online rental marketplace, has partnered with finance company Billd to offer customers finance options purpose-built for buying construction materials, equipment and labour.

Billd, which was founded in 2018, provides credit for sub-contractors, offering “same-day advances” that can be used to hire and make purchases. Its service recognises the challenges of unpredictable cash flows in the construction business.

The two companies said that for a limited period, new customers will receive a free BigRentz rental when they finance over U$25,000 in materials or receivables through Billd.

BigRentz CEO Scott Cannon said the agreement allowed it to extend its services beyond equipment rental in a way that recognised the real issues facing its customers.

“By working alongside Billd, BigRentz is helping contractors more seamlessly manage their equipment rentals and project finances in order to free up capital and time, which can be used to invest in their companies, deliver quality projects and continue expanding.”

The CEO and co-founder of Billd, Chris Doyle, said the business was on a mission to be “Champion of the Sub”, adding; “Whether they’re taking on new projects to grow their business, or adding new equipment to complete projects on time with BigRentz, our partnership helps arm subcontractors with the financial flexibility and working capital they need to do great work.”

Billd said sub-contractors were facing soaring material and labour costs caused by inflation and shortages. It claimed that last year alone subcontractors faced $97 billion in unexpected material and labour expenses.

Founded in 2012, BigRentz has a network of more than 6,000 equipment rental company partners, with 13,900 locations. It’s lead investor is Itochu Corp, the Japanese-based trading company, which invested in the business in 2020.

Billd was founded by Christopher Doyle and Jesse Weissburg in 2018.
