Boels to use BESS from Volvo Penta and e-power

Boels Rental has agreed a deal to acquire a Battery Energy Storage Solution developed by a collaboration between Volvo Penta and specialist power solutions manufacturer e-power.

Volvo Penta, part of Swedish giant, the Volvo Group, said that the new BESS system had been specifically tailored for the rental sector.

The BESS system, has been built by e-power using Volvo Penta’s purpose-built subsystem, which includes battery packs, a battery management system, DC/DC converters, thermal management and communication interfaces.

“This is about enabling our partners to move faster and more confidently toward sustainable solutions,” said David Hamilton, Volvo Penta industrial sales director for Northern Europe.

“By combining our adaptable BESS subsystem with e-power’s integration expertise, we’re helping Boels meet both operational flexibility and decarbonization goals.”

Boels manager for fleet & innovation, Davy De Wilde, added that Boels is already a long term user of e-power generators powered by Volvo Penta engines, making it a logical step to acquire BESS systems from the pair.

“We’re seeing a shift in demand from our customers and a clear path in our sustainability ambitions,” he said.
