Chippindale invests in JCB telehandlers
29 June 2014
UK-based equipment rental company Chippindale Plant has expanded its fleet with a £2 million (€2.5 million) order for JCB telescopic handlers.
The JCB order included 50 Loadall telescopic handlers, bought through Sheffield-based JCB dealer TC Harrison JCB.
Delivery is set to be completed later this year - the deal includes 535-140 Hi-Viz models, which are 7m and 10m machines, as well as and six 540-170 telescopics, with a 17m working height. Chippindale has also taken delivery of low headroom 524-50 models.
The company, which launched 65 years ago, has depots in Catterick, Huddersfield, Keighley, Newcastle, Sheffield and York. It said it was growing its fleet following increased demand from customers across the north and the midlands.
“We shed almost 40% of the telescopic fleet in the recession,” said joint managing director Nigel Chippindale. “Since we’ve started expanding the telehandler fleet again we’ve focused on JCB as that’s what our customers want, specifically it’s what the man driving it wants.”
Chippindale said it currently offered 140 JCB Loadall telescopic handlers in a total plant fleet of more than 2,500 machines.
