ERA sets priorities for 2025 activities
28 January 2025
The European Rental Association (ERA) said it will have three priority areas for action in 2025 - sustainability, digitalisation and workforce development.
The association, whose members include many of the largest equipment rental companies in Europe as well as multiple OEMs, said activities in these areas “will help the equipment rental industry address current challenges and prepare for the future” with the aim of meeting challenges in a “structured and measured way”.
Sustainability in focus
ERA said sustainability continued to be a critical area for the rental industry and that the association would support rental companies in their efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition to more sustainable energy solutions.
“Rental companies play a vital role in lowering the environmental impact of equipment use”, said ERA, “By fostering the adoption of sustainable practices, the association aims to support members in aligning with broader environmental expectations.
ERA has created tools such as the Carbon Reporting Guidance, Sustainability KPIs, and the Handbook on Sustainability and are listed here.
Addressing workforce challenges
To address persistent employment gaps and skills shortages, ERA said it would promote its Attracting and Retaining People report, which aims to attract and retain a skilled workforce while encouraging greater diversity within the sector.
Additionally, the association will focus on helping members to improve workplace safety practices to reduce incidents, ensuring safer working conditions across the industry.
“Communicating the benefits and career opportunities within the rental sector will also be an important part of this effort”, said ERA, “Also, ERA is working on the OSH Project and the report will be published in 2025.”
Digital transformation
Its third pririty is the adoption of digital technologies and AI. ERA said it will monitor best practices and assist members to be more aware of the means of digitalization for the rental business.
Said the association; “Through these priorities, ERA aims to provide a framework for rental companies to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
“The focus on sustainability, workforce development, financial stability, and digital transformation reflects the association’s commitment to supporting its members and ensuring the long-term viability of the industry.”
