CW Plant Hire acquires in the UK
18 July 2023
UK equipment rental company Charles Wilson Plant Hire (CW Plant Hire) has acquired the plant hire activities of MTS Plant Hire. No financial details have been revealed.
Founded in 1986, West Yorkshire-based MTS rents equipment such as skid steer loaders, mini excavators and site dumpers and has depots spread out across England and Scotland.
CW said the purchase was part of its ongoing expansion plan and will see its equipment rental division CW Plant Hire become the second largest hirer of skid steers in the UK.
David Gallagher, chief executive, Charles Wilson Plant Hire, said, “We’re delighted to add MTS Plant Hire to the Charles Wilson family. With a great fleet of machinery and a fantastic team, this deal really strengthens our position as one of the UK’s leading plant hire companies.”
The acquisition is the latest move the company has made in its growth plan, with Gallagher revealing last year that it aims to hit “£90m in year one” and “more than £100m in revenues in year two” following its purchase of M&J Hire Centres.
That acquisition saw the company increase the number of depots in the UK to 30, while it now has over 1,000 products, 400 staff and equipment assets totalling £200 million (€232 million).
Moving forward, the company says it will explore further opportunities for expansion through acquisitions and its apprenticeship programme.
