US-based construction equipment manufacturer Ditch Witch has expanded its range of ride-on trenchers with the addition of the new RT70 model.

The RT70 ride-on trencher is equipped with features that increase operator comfort and visibility, helping to boost efficiency and profitability on the jobsite, according to the manufacturer.

The ergonomically designed operator station features an open layout with  more leg room than the company’s previous models, intuitive controls and a 90-degree swivel seat.

“This enhanced visibility provides operators with a full view of the machine – “from front tire to back tire and the attachment”, says Ditch Witch.

The RT70 also includes a patented cooling fan that reduces temperature levels in the operator station by moving hot, uncomfortable exhaust out of the side of the machine rather than toward the operator, as with traditional fans.

The machine’s modular design comprises a single base unit with the option to move from tires to tracks.

With different attachments, plus a variety of optional add-ons, operators can also reconfigure the machine throughout its lifecycle to customize it for specific jobsite needs.

It is powered by a 54kW Yanmar Tier 4/Stage V compliant diesel engine and built with a narrow footprint of 73-inches wide. The machine’s modular design features a single base unit with the option to move from tires to tracks. In addition, it comes with a 4.3-inch colour LCD engine display.

Steve Seabolt, product manager, ride-on tractors, Ditch Witch Organisation said, “The RT70 is compact and maneuverable, yet powerful. This new unit, with its unique features, will allow the operator to tackle tough jobs in tight conditions.”

The RT70 is the latest addition to the Ditch Witch offering of ride-on trenchers, which includes the RT45, RT80, RT120 and RT125. In May, the firm launched its new MT26 Microtrencher attachment for customers in the power sector.
