The European Rental Association (ERA) has launched its new Equipment C02 calculator, an updated version of its free-to-use tool that it launched in 2021.

The calculator enables users to determine the carbon footprint of construction equipment over a defined period of time or its entire ‎lifecycle.

The latest version is said to come with various updates that helps equipment stakeholders to make sustainable choices with their equipment.

Among these is the addition of two new calculators that enables users to track emissions of both handheld tools and modular space equipment, improved navigation and single equipment and group calculations that adds the option for group calculations for a ‎specific project, task or jobsite, or an entire equipment fleet.

Described as a “comprehensive and easy-to-use tool” by the ERA, the calculator is aimed at rental companies, contractors, OEMs, public authorities and other equipment users.

The 2.0 version is currently only available in English, but the ERA says that it is working on a future update that will make it available in French, German, Italian, ‎Spanish and Dutch

The calculator, which uses calculations from independent research consultancy CE Delft, is available via https://equipmentcalculator.org/.
