12 June 2024
This week in equipment rental included a wide range of happenings, from success with electric heavy equipment in UAE to expansion for pump rentals in Florida, US. Let’s take a look at the news for the week that was June 6-12, 2024.
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) said its L120H Electric wheel loader ‘shined’ amid a test in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a region the company expects will be active this year and in the future.
Collaborating with UAE-based rental company FAMCO (Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company), as well as concrete-supplier ALAS Emirates Ready Mix (also UAE-based), the group used the L120H to load stockpiles into a feeder hopper at ALAS’ ready-mix site in Abu Dhabi.
On a less upbeat note, UK-based HSS Hire Group reported it has lost a major contract with UK-based infrastructure services firm Amey.
The managed services contract with Amey has been running since December 2015 and accounts for around 7% of HSS Hire Group’s revenue and 10% of its adjusted EBITDA in 2023, according to an announcement to investors from HSS.
In the US, Herc is to open an $800-million aggregate principal amount of 6.625% senior unsecured notes to repay a portion of the indebtedness outstanding under the company’s senior secured asset-based revolving credit agreement and to pay related fees and expenses.
Good news for Equipment Depot, based in Wisconsin, US, which is celebrating its best safety record in company history, reporting a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 1.27, which
is nearly 3x lower than the industry average of 3.9.
The announcement comes during June’s 28th annual National Safety Month, a yearly event spearheaded by the National Safety Council that highlights specific key safety issues with a goal of building awareness of the leading causes of preventable injuries and fatalities in the workplace.
