UK rental company GAP Hire Solutions has achieved Gold certification from the FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme); gold is the top award available from the organisation.
FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators.
It is designed to to raise the level of quality within fleet operations and demonstrate which operators are achieving best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
“Being a FORS member allows GAP to ensure that it is managing its work-related road risk (WRRR) appropriately while instilling a mindset of continual improvement and demonstrating the Group’s commitment to exceeding the industry standard in fleet management,” GAP said in a statement.
With GAP’s operations serviced by a fleet of over 700 commercial vehicles, the company said holding FORS accreditation helps it implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with transport law.
In working toward the FORS Gold Standard, GAP’s transport managers participated in FORS Practitioner workshops. The company’s drivers also underwent FORS training courses.
Chris Parr, Chief Operating Officer at GAP, commented: “All of GAP’s HGV vehicles are fitted with state-of-the-art safety equipment such as cameras, nearside proximity aids and audible reversing alarms.
“We have invested in an industry leading asset delivery and telematics system which monitors driver behaviours and includes route planning to minimise unnecessary milage and fuel usage.
“GAP only purchases vehicles with the latest Euro 6 diesel engines built in, helping to reduce CO2, NOx and Particulate Matter emissions.”
In line with its aim to become net zero by 2040, GAP said it has been reviewing its existing fleet, introducing hybrid and electric vehicles where possible, while ensuring their operations follow FORS standards.
