Hewden helps make the music
18 May 2009
Rental company Hewden in the UK provided more than 20 pieces of equipment to help events contractor SJM Concerts host the BBC's Big Weekend music festival in Swindon, the UK's biggest free concert.
SJM Concerts rented a combination of rough-terrain forklifts, six Caterpillar telehandlers with lift heights from 7 m to 13 m, and ten Groundhog utility vehicles from the Hewden depot in Swindon. SJM used the equipment to position barriers, move and place portable toilet facilities, and erect the stage areas.
Hewden said the JCB Groundhog 6 x 4s were particularly useful. The four-wheel drive, two-seater utility vehicles were used to transport artists including The Prodigy, Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand and Lily Allen, as well as serving distribution points all across the site.
