Kranpunkten delivers machines with e-trucks in Sweden’s major cities

Kranpunkten has reached a key milestone by integrating electric trucks into its transport fleet, enabling the delivery of rental machines in Sweden’s metropolitan areas: Malmö, Gothenburg, and Stockholm-Mälardalen.

This initiative is part of Kranpunkten’s broader strategy to lead in technology and sustainability while working toward becoming climate-neutral by 2030.

Currently, 86% of Kranpunkten’s fleet comprises hybrid and electric machines and vehicles, but the company’s environmental efforts go beyond its equipment.

Machine transportation, the most significant contributor to its environmental impact, has been a primary focus.

Aiming to make a difference, Kranpunkten initially targeted using HVO100 fuel (or Neste MY Renewable Diesel) for 80% of its transport. The next step is offering a fully electric solution to customers.

Customers can now opt for a rental machine powered and charged with green electricity in metropolitan regions, transported silently and emission-free to and from the worksite.

Through partnerships with logistics companies, Kranpunkten has deployed three cutting-edge electric trucks. One truck, operated by Swerock, began servicing Malmö in 2022, followed by Gothenburg in 2023. The latest addition—a collaboration with JB Bilbärgning—has operated in Stockholm-Mälardalen since late 2024.

“The trucks are charged with green electricity at Kranpunkten’s depots, and our logistics partners manage all customer deliveries,” said Rikard Jönsson, Kranpunkten’s purchasing manager. “This initiative is essential to Kranpunkten’s sustainability efforts, helping our customers meet their own environmental goals.”

The Volvo and Scania electric trucks boast an impressive range of up to 600 km and are designed to transport rental machines with optimized load capacity efficiently. Their zero emissions and low noise levels meet strict environmental regulations and minimize disruptions in sensitive areas, improving conditions for both local communities and drivers.

As one of Sweden’s leading rental companies for lifting machines, Kranpunkten operates depots in Malmö, Förslöv, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Uppsala, and Luleå. With 120 employees and a rental fleet of 4,300 machines, the company is committed to innovation, safety, and efficiency.

Kranpunkten said its continuous shift toward hybrid and electric equipment, use of alternative fuels, and collaboration with suppliers underscore its mission to help customers complete projects with modern, energy-efficient solutions that minimize environmental impact.
