Mateco meets cross-border challenges

25 March 2020

Europe-wide Mateco Group is facing different regulatory conditions and employee needs around the continent as it continues to do business.

The access equipment rental company, part of TVH, said several countries have announced the closure of borders with neighbouring countries and further measures are likely to follow.

“This development also has an impact on our business,” explained Armin Rappen, CEO of mateco Group. “At the same time, we are striving to minimise the negative economic impact of this situation on mateco and to be there for our customers.

Rappen continued, “For many of them, in all different industry sectors, it is difficult now as they have to do some unplanned repair or maintenance work. Therefore, we want to continue to be their partner in all height access tasks the best way we can. Closing depots is something we only want to do when there is an unavoidable emergency case. Nevertheless, we analyse the situation every day in every country by taking appropriate decisions and want to maintain our business capability as long as possible.”

The most important thing is the health of mateco`s employees, their families and the customers, said Rappen. “Therefore we follow the strict hygiene standards that are given in every individual country, in particular for our drivers and technicians at the field.”

Mateco services can be reached without restrictions via telephone or e-mail and customers can make use of the company’s online rental request software and its 24/7 online administration tool mymateco. The company has also set up frequent internal communication channels that inform all employees in all countries of the current situation.

“The company has registered some Coronavirus confirmed cases amongst the employees and has undertaken all necessary steps to protect the workforce. The known cases are doing fine and they are recovering quite quickly.”

Rappen thanked the entire mateco workforce for their team spirit and commitment in these challenging times.
