UK-based MBS Tracked Access has just completed the purchase of three new generation Teupen Leo Spiderlifts from platform distributor, Ranger Equipment.

The Essex-based platform hire firm has added two ‘facelift' Leo 23GT tracked spiders (23m w/h) and a ‘facelift' Leo 18GT (17.9m w/h) to its fleet of Teupen machines.

MBS acquired the new Teupen machines from Chesterfield-based Ranger, the brand's exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland. The deal included the trade-in of MBS's current 23m Leos. The new Leo 18GT will fill a gap between MBS's 23m machines and 14.9m w/h Leo 15GT.

MBS Tracked Access now runs five Leos - the largest being a Leo 30T (30m w/h). The machines are mainly hired with operators for shopping centre and facilities maintenance work. However, on occasion they are also used by parent company, MBS Grounds Maintenance Ltd, for tree surgery and building maintenance.

"We have replaced our 23m Leos every two years to keep up with Teupen innovation. It means the machines remain within warranty and we are offering customers the cutting edge in tracked platform performance and user simplicity which is where Teupen excels," said Martyn Bass, managing director, MBS.

The new Leo23GT models come complete with Teupen's hydraulic track height adjustment system. "The system is straightforward to demonstrate to hire customers and for them to use. We have noticed the difference it makes to our contract maintenance work, as well. The ease of adjusting track height to drive along kerbs and sloping ground is a big advantage in manoeuvring around site for arborist work, gutter cleaning, roof slate repairs, and so on," said Mr Bass.

As part of its ongoing ‘facelift' enhancement programme, Teupen is overhauling the full 12m to 50m w/h Leo series with revamped models as well as all-new range additions. The German manufacturer launched a new 25m w/h machine last summer, the Leo25T+ with 18.0m lateral outreach and ultra-slim 1.58m chassis, as an alternative to the existing Leo25T. A premium version 15m platform, the Leo 15GT Plus, has just gone into production.
