Northern Ireland Water awards £800 million professional services framework

NI Water, the company in charge of water and sewerage services in Northern Ireland, has awarded work worth up to £800 million (US$1.06 billion) to design, plan and build water and wastewater infrastructure throughout the province.

The company announced that 14 construction companies will take on work through its professional services framework which will support the planning and delivery of its capital works programme.

The framework will run for an initial four-year term, with options to extend to 2032 and the spend can flex up and down, depending on the capital investment budget available for that period.

NI Water’s business plan is determined by the independent Utility Regulator.

The operator has committed to planning for a two degree rise in temperatures by 2050 and a four degree increase by 2090.

A wide range of feasibility, design, construction, planning and management services will be provided by companies appointed to the IF182 framework, including project management, network modelling, digital innovation and plans to strengthen climate resilience, while reducing carbon emissions and improving the overall efficiency of capital delivery.

Companies which have been awarded site supervisor roles under the framework are: Atkins-Realis, MCADAM DESIGN, Tetra Tech Consulting NI, WSP and AECOM.

Project managers are: Atkins-Realis, Doran Consulting, Turner Townsend Coat Management and WSP.

Feasibility, design and climate change work has gone to: Atkins-Realis, AECOM, Jacobs, MCADAM Design, Mott Macdonald, Ove Arup and Partners, RPS Ireland, Stantec and WSP.

Capital programme management office services contracts have been awarded to: Atkins-Realis, CHANDLER KBS, Mott Macdonald and Tetra Tech Consulting NI.

And innovation and efficiency work will be undertaken by: Atkins-Realis, Ove Arup and Partners and OutForm Consulting.
