The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance has received one its biggest donation to date from the NHS Trust, with over 250 pallets of essential medical supplies worth £2 million set to leave the UK for Ukraine this week.

The majority of the donation, which includes hospital scrubs, isolation gowns, patient gowns and masks with filters, will be sent to St Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv.

Further donations will be made to the Kherson Military Hospital, several hospitals in Sumy and the Kirovograd region and the NGO military centre which specialises in the exhumation of fallen soldiers, civilians and mass graves.

To deliver the supplies, which the Alliance describes as a “large scale operation”, 10 40ft arctic trucks, each of which cost £3100 to despatch, are required.

So far eight trucks have been put forward thanks to sponsorship from Watling JCB, JCB, Paul Karakusevic, Johnsons Cars Ltd, L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage and Zappshelter, while the Alliance is appealing for help with the final two vehicles.

Other recent donations to be delivered to Ukraine include two 650kW generators from UK company McLaren Construction Group worth £100,000.

Formed last year by Jeremy Fish, CEO of Ardent Hire Solutions, the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance has arranged several convoys to Ukraine since war in the country broke out. Members of the Alliance include Sunbelt Rentals, Riwal, Genie, JCB and Boels Rental.
