Power Briefing recap: week of Oct. 28

Where did October go? In any case, as we walk into November, here’s what you might have missed this week in Power Briefing:

  • Power Progress recently brought you insights from an Engine Technology Forum (ETF) webinar about how diesel alternatives and additives can help internal combustion (IC) engines decarbonize. In that same webinar, FPT Industrial and Stanadyne focused on innovations within the engines themselves.
  • Much useful information came out of the 2024 Power Progress Summit. Brad Sutton of Cummins delivered a keynote on Day 1 about AI and its role in the energy transition. Given the speed with which it is growing, he believes it can help to dramatically accelerate decarbonization.
  • China is not known for its efforts to decarbonize. Nonetheless, Reuters reported recently that liquefied natural gas (LNG) commercial truck adoption is on the rise. India has said it’s interested in following suit.
  • Italy’s Cobo S.p.A., which makes components for mobile equipment, has a global footprint. It’s mapping out its future growth by looking at a few key areas, including localized service and support as well as capitalizing upon autonomous vehicle operation.

Other news revealed that Blue Bird delivered the School District of Philadelphia’s first-ever propane-powered school buses, Cat’s construction sales are down and Torc Robotics has begun validating its autonomous trucks.
