UK-based solar lighting tower and generator manufacturer Prolectric has announced the opening of its first office in the US.

Based in the facility of parent company Hill & Smith in Garland, Texas, the office will primarily focus on the distribution of its ‘Smart’ tower lights and hybrid generators.

Former Sunbelt Rentals product specialist Ben Odell will assume the role as head of the new division. Odell has been with the company since August 2023 and is the business development manager for Prolectric USA.

Rachel Preen, managing director, Prolectric, said, “The US market for solar is extremely buoyant. With expected growth in new solar capacity, Texas has tremendous potential for us. We warmly welcome Ben Odell, our business development lead in the US, to Prolectric.

“His wealth of experience in the construction sector is perfectly placed to support businesses looking to save on their fleet running costs and transition away from diesel to solar power. This market opportunity provides a natural progression for us to scale the business, building on our rapid UK growth ambition.”

Prolectric serves a wide range of industries including construction, housebuilding, rail and major infrastructure.

Although a “solar-first” business having launched its first solar-powered tower in 2016, the company told IRN at the Executive Hire Show last month that it has seen an increase in demand for hybrid options. At the show it launched the ProRXM Hybrid, its first solar hybrid lighting tower.

The company is also working on a a five panel model, set to be launched at some point in 2024.
