Selwood pumps powered with biofuel

All of the rental firm’s pumps with a Stage 3B engine can be run on hyrdrotreated vegetable oil as diesel alternative
UK pump rental and sales company Selwood said it has become the first in the country to offer pumps that can be run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) instead of traditional diesel.
Selwood – which also manufactures and supplies pumps, plant and construction equipment across the country and internationally – said it had completed its HVO testing phase and that all its pumps with a Stage 3B engine could now be run on the second-generation biofuel. This includes the S160Eco, D150Eco and HP35Eco models in the company’s Eco range.
The company began testing biofuel after some of its large clients expressed an interest in diesel alternative fuels.
Pump users will not need to clean out or make any adaptations to the Stage 3B engine in order to use the HVO fuel, which is said to be a clean-burning and fossil-free biofuel that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%.
Lawrence Bradbury, Director of Engineering at Selwood, said: “We are delighted with the results – not only is HVO completely interchangeable with diesel in compatible engines, it can also be used with no negative impact on performance. We are very pleased to be able to let customers know that HVO can be used safely as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.”
