Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, officially opened the Occupational Safety + Health Exhibition for Asia (OS+H Asia) last week at the Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore.
Mr Shanmugaratnam took a tour of the exhibition, accompanied by representatives from government and safety institutions, including Tim Whiteman, CEO of the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). Mr. Shanmugaratnam also visited the IPAF stand to learn more about mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) as a means for safe work at height.
"We were delighted to receive the Deputy Prime Minister and to have the opportunity to highlight IPAF's safety initiatives and training programmes, and to demonstrate the advantages of low-level access equipment," said Mr Whiteman.
IPAF is a supporting organisation of OS+H Asia, IPAF's South East Asian regional office is based in Singapore and is managed by Raymond Wat - the IPAF Singapore Country Council is expected to hold its first meeting shortly.
