UK haulage and rental company Explore Plant and Transport Solutions (Explore) has expanded its equipment fleet, with the addition of five new electric telehandlers from Faresin.

The company, which operates a rental fleet of 6,000 units across seven depots, purchased Faresin’s 17m full electric telehandlers.

Explore placed the order after viewing the models at this year’s Bauma construction exhibition in Munich, Germany.

The model is part of Faresin’s ‘Big Range Full Electric” machine series.  Launched at Bauma 2022 just a few weeks ago, it comprises the 14.42, 17.40 and 17.45 models, which offer maximum lifting capacities of 4.2, 4.0 and 4.5 tonnes respectively.

The electric telehandlers are fitted with a with a 45.36kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack at 435V.

The battery pack powers two electric motors, a 51kW motor for the transmission and a 23kW motor that is dedicated to the machine’s services.

Described as “a machine with construction in its DNA”, the 17m model offers a maximum pulling force of 44.3kN and top speed 25km/h.

Warren Wilkinson, Head of Operations at Explore, said “At Explore we are passionate about expanding our green sustainable alternatives, and as such have been looking at Faresin telehandlers for some time.

“With the developments to their battery technology and the launch of the new 17m electric, we see this as a viable construction sector machine, which will meet the requirements of various projects that we are working on.”

Explore procured the telehandlers through lifting equipment specialist a Faresin distribution partner GGR, which recently sold the world’s first Faresin 17.45 electric model to Flannery Plant Hire.

Speak of Explore’s equipment purchase, Mike Heneghan, GGR Group’s Sales Director, said, “This is massive news and a serious commitment to sustainability and green innovation by Explore.

He added, “The 17m electric telehandler is the first of its kind on the market. A lot of attention comes with being first.

“Not only are people attracted to novelty, especially when it relates to innovative construction plant, it is also being mandated when bidding for certain types of project and government policy is calling for it.”
