Oct 17: HAE EHA CEO Paul Gaze says “it is essential that we promote the opportunities within the sector”
On a post on the Hire Association Europe and Event Hire Association LinkedIn page earlier today, CEO Paul Gaze said that it is “essential that we promote the opportunities within the sector and showcase the careers on offer.”
HAE EHA is taking part in Plant Hire Week, which is being held alongide European Rental Week. Also earlier today the association published a video in which HAE vice chair Sally Wray outlines her commitment to the campaign.

UK-based OEM Thwaites has created a campaign called Sustainability Underpins Rental, which encourages its European distributors to share a paper covering rental as a model of sustainability.
The paper discusses how the rental industry reduces resource consumption, makes the industry more energy efficient, whilst reducing waste.

Oct 16: ERW goes global with Hire Industry Association of New Zealand
The Hire Industry Association of New Zealand has said that it is “taking the lead from the ERA” by promoting the hire and rental across New Zealand and Australia.
A post on LinkedIn said, “This year’s theme highlights the industry’s commitment to sustainability. One of the industry’s main pillars is to drive positive environmental impact by promoting the shared economy that hire and rental is, while delivering value to our customers and communities.
“From construction machinery to event equipment, the hire industry offers a wide range of sustainable solutions designed to meet customers’ evolving needs while promoting resource conservation and sharing.”

Oct 16: SPOA: Why words matter in the industry
As part of its activities for Plant Hire Week, the Scottish Plant Owners Association (SPOA) has interviewed industry veteral and LAS Plant employee Ian Bone.
In the interview, Bone discusses his own career path, the opportunties in the industry and whether the “choice of words might actually be a barrier to attracting new people into the industry.”
He says that to attract younger generations to the industry, the gap between industry and schools needs to be bridged, which he says SPOA is “making great strides here with its investment in the Tenstar simulator and I really hope that this triggers more collaboration between schools and industry.”

Oct 15: “Coffee in the Air” in Switzerland
VSAA, the Swiss Working Platform Providers Association, in partnership with Avesco Rent, has organised a “Coffee in the Air” event across Switzerland which see’s platform lifts used to invite passers by to drink a coffee and to discuss the rental industry in the air.
The initiative, which started yesterday at a branch in Zurich and has since moved outside local supermarkets in Spreitenbach, is designed to encourage members to show what the rental business is to peole not connected to the industry.
IRN was told by Christoph Scaffner, director of rental machines and used equipment Switzerland, Avesco Rent, that each day the initiative takes place in a different region with a different model.
He said, “We had some good talks about the rental business and have built our network, even though that wasn’t the initial goal.
“We want to show what the rental business is, but the people not connected to the industry don’t know the business exisits. For them, it is important that we show we exist and increase the attractiveness of each branch.”
Tomorrow and the next three days it will take place outside homeware stores across Switzerland and the association is asking all members to organise something as part of the event.
Meanwhile, Avesco Rent CEO Cornelia Kuratli, will share three videos on the topics of Rental Week throughout the course of the week.

Germany-based rental company Zeppelin Rental is highlighting its green and emission-free combined solutions that it launched earlier this year.
ecoSolutions makes its entire range of climate-friendly, energy-efficient and resource-saving services available, including the hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO) supply for rental machines, smart supply and disposal logistics, its Rental+ app for equipment sharing and digital traffic solutions.
On a post on LinkedIn, Dr. Markus Heidak, Senior CSR Manager at Zeppelin Rental, said, “Construction projects of the future will no longer be about individual services or products, but about holistic solutions that make it possible, for example, to comply with a certain CO₂ budget, to ensure CO₂-free work or to demonstrate significant resource savings.

Oct 14: KPMG provides update on European rental market
Martin Seban, director of strategy for KPMG is providing an update on the European rental market. He says construction activity in some parts of Europe is seeing a slowdown from the rebound it saw after the pandemic.
However, he says the region is set to boosted by the EU National Recovery and Resillience plan, with a 2.8% increase predicted in 2025.

“The event emphasises the industry’s efforts to reduce carbon footprints, promote energy efficiency and minimise waste,” says Severin. “By integrating eco-friendly equipment and renewable energy solutions, we as an industry can deliver significant value to customers and communities.”
He says the event will showcase how the industry addresses global challenges such as climate change and resource depletion.

Oct 14: From 14:00 today the Working in Rental for a Sustainable Future Webinar, part of European Rental Week, will begin with an opening speech from Arne Severin, CEO of Zeppelin Rental.
The webinar will focus on sustainability within the equipment rental sector and cover a range of topics, including digitilisation and attraction and retention of people in the industry.

Oct 14: As was the case for 2023, this year will see promotional activity take place across Europe, including in France where rental association DLR will promote the ERA’s #RentalWeek2024 Social Media Challenge.
The ERA said the aim of the challenge is to encourage people to showcase what it is really like to work in the rental industry and highlight the rewarding aspects.

This year marks the second edition of the event, organised by the European Rental Association (ERA) in collaboration with its National Association and Promotion Committees.
