In-house transport expansion at AFI

18 May 2015

AFI is further expanding its in-house transport fleet by purchasing three new heavy-duty low loader trailers and four rigid vehicles to meet increased customer demand.

The recently-arrived King low loaders can carry the largest powered access machines in the AFI fleet – the 31 tonne Holland Lift Megastar scissor lift. The four 26 tonne MAN vehicles are due in September.

AFI Director Nick Higgins said, “We have invested heavily in providing our own, in-house transport fleet so that we can take full responsibility and control of every aspect of the delivery process. For example, we offer customers morning or afternoon delivery slots whenever possible.

“We have further increased the efficiency of the fleet by strategically locating the vehicles throughout our UK depot network to ensure that MEWPs are delivered to customers quickly and also collected promptly.”

AFI has gained the FORS Gold accreditation for its good working practices in the way it operates its fleet. Vehicles have the latest safety and environmental features – such as fall arrest systems to ensure driver safety and deck lighting to assist when loading and unloading in the dark.
