Dubai-based pump rental specialist Action International Services has standardised on Volvo Penta engines for its fleet of pumps.

Action, which is a dealer for Godwin pumps and offers piling and dewatering services to the Middle East, CIS and North African construction, pipeline and oil and gas industries, will now use Volvo Penta 6 to 16 litre engines as standard in its pumps.

The company assembles its pumps in Dubai and installs around 200 diesel engines every year.

Action said it was service back-up that was an important factor in making the engine choice. “When we were using competitor engines, we often ran into problems getting them serviced in the field,” said Declan Breen, general manager of Action, “But if I call Volvo, they tell us it’s no problem, and they sort out the problem straight away. That’s exactly what we need in our region.”

Action International has offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It is owned by Mazrui Holdings, a private com, panby that manages a number of business in retain and construction markets, including Hilti Emirates.
