Jewson launches first regional distribution hub

UK builders merchant brand Jewson has launched its first distribution hub in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The newly refurbished branch is based in Craigentinny and will now serve as the centralised point for all deliveries across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

According to Jewson owner Stark Group, which acquired the company from Saint-Gobain in 2022 in a £740 million (€850 million) deal, the move is part of its goal to “optimise distribution through clustering and modernise” its branch network across the UK.

The company said the shift to a clustered distribution model will “improve delivery efficiency”, offer extended operational hours while also enabling Jewson to handle increased order volumes and reduce the environmental impact of multiple trips across the city.

In addition to serving as a distribution hub, the Craigentinny branch has been refurbished in line with Jewson’s ‘Branch of the Future’ concept, which it said brings innovative features inspired by the Group’s branch concepts in the Nordic countries and Germany.

The concept aims to transform the customer experience for tradespeople in the UK.

The company said, “Optimising Jewson’s branch network nationwide and developing distribution facilities are part of a comprehensive investment programme aimed at strengthening the company’s market position and delivering even better service to the customers.”
