Manitou steps up hydrogen and electric line

Manitou Group has expanded electric range and introduced a new hydrogen-powered prototype at Bauma, as wells as introducing a new high-lift rotating telehandler.

The two new MT 1440e and MT 1840e electric telehandlers are powered by a lithium-ion 63 kWh battery that allows the machine to work for a full day. According to the company the electric system improves the total cost of ownership by 75% compared with combustion models.

Equipped with an integrated 9 kw charger, the two models are also compatible with the new Manitou 30 kw rapid charger.

Offering a fast travel speed of 25 km/h, the MT 1440e and MT 1840e boast lifting heights of 14m and 18m respectively, and a load capacity of up to 4 tonnes. The maximum outreach is 13m.

With a standard two-year warranty, with 70% battery capacity is guaranteed for 5 years, and will be available in Europe from the fourth quarter of 2025.

Second hydrogen prototype

Manitou has also presented a second prototype of its hydrogen-powered rotating telehandler. The MRT 2260 H2 is powered by hydrogen via a fuel cell and offers a lifting height of 22m and a load capacity of 6 tonnes. It incorporates a hydrogen-powered range extender that is easily removable, and essentially replaces the diesel range extender found on hybrid MRTs.

Ultra-high rotator

Manitou has also presented the new MRT 4070 rotating telehandler, the highest in its Vision+ range, with a height of 40m and a load capacity of 7 tonnes. The outreach is also substantial, reaching up to 27m.

Powered by a 211 hp engine, the model is equipped with a CVT transmission. Advantages include faster set-up times, reduced travel distances, and optimized manoeuvrability on tight jobsites. The Easy Step cabin access makes entry and exit easy and safe, while remote control offers additional flexibility. Arnaud Boyer, VP Marketing and Product Development adds: “The ability to work in tight spaces, combined with a small footprint, means we can offer a 40-meter lifting height model that’s simple to use and set up.”

Vertical evolution

The VJR range of vertical access platforms, 8m and 10m working heights, has had its control panel redesigned to improve ergonomics and aid use in confined spaces.

Its electric engine, suitable for stabilized indoor and outdoor environments, reduces noise and environmental pollution.

The Smartview system provides integrated diagnostics for easy maintenance, allowing real-time visualization of movements, battery life monitoring and an hour meter. Harness detection, meanwhile, enhances safety by alerting the operator in the event of non-use. It is also easy to transport, thanks to fork pockets on either side of the turntable.

Quick charging

The new external 30kWh fast charger is compatible with the MT range of telehandlers and the ME Lift electric forklifts, guaranteeing a 60% recharge in less than an hour.

It has been designed for easy transport and installation, thanks to its integrated lifting slings and fork pockets, and to withstand offroad conditions. It meets the requirements of different markets with country-specific adapters. It is available in July 2025.

The company’s compact ULM telehandler is now available with an aluminium trailer in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The sturdy aluminum K50 ball hitch trailer is equipped with access ramps and comes with a box that can contain customized tie-down equipment. This offer makes it easy to transport the ULM from job site to job site and increases productivity.
