Scandanavia-based rental company Lambertsson has been awarded a contract to provide machines for the rebuilding of the E6 motorway in Sweden.

A stretch of the motorway just outside the town of Stenungund in western Sweden collapsed last September following a landslide, also causing a 1,640ft sinkhole to open up.

In its role in the rebuilding process, Lambertsson will provide rental machines and services.

To support the works, the company has opened a temporary depot on site that it said will enable it to serve the project and “maximise service.”

Karl Seldén, regional manager west, Lambertsson, said, “We contacted our colleagues at Peab and got help from Byggelement, which has a factory in Ucklum near the site of the landslide.

“Through close collaboration, we have gained access to a large premises that we are converting into a project depot, and in this way quickly established ourselves in the vicinity.”

Lambertsson added that it has machines and personnel in place in the immediate area to “get the E6 ready as quickly as possible.”

The announcement comes just months after its owner Peab was commissioned for the project. The construction company is tasked with rebuilding the E6 in the existing section at the northern entrance to Stenungsund.

Peab said the cost of the rebuild and a timeframe for completion are “yet to be finalised.”
